Reading such a diverse set of definitions makes me wonder if a similar symposium where we define love would be possible in the twenty-first century. What would it say?

It seems extraordinarily good value - pre-ordered

I used to run screaming from philosophy but the older I get the more I’m dipping my toe in although I am 71 so maybe need to dive.

Thank you - I have aimed to make the translations and explanations accessible and straightforward. The philosophy can seem difficult, but it needn’t be over-complicated!

The tale of Aristophanes is just wonderful. I find it fascinating that the gods' aporia is resolved through μηχανή - smart, benevolent and successful. The later Greek idiom does not recognise this trio unless it comes from the underworld.
